basic info

The apero aa-11-13, often called the whispering widow, is a high horsepower and frankly a pretty large engine mainly used for bomber aircraft, and large fighters. The 3968hp engine was used in the B65 with two engines and the B59 bombers with 4 engines. These bombers were able to reach speeds of almost 500mph fully loaded with these engines.

history

The US air force put out a bid for an all new radial engine that can be used to power very heavy and large aircraft, but it can be fuel efficient and be able to make one of these large planes, fly fast with only a few engines. Apero, Datware, and qerne submitted designs and out of them Daware and apero were the top runners and were given contracts to build prototypes. During testing the apero proved to be a much more reliable, fuel efficient, and powerful engine compared to the Daware engine. The engine was then placed in the Wedon b65 bomber and proved that it could handle the might of the 150 foot long bomber. Soon after the success of the b65 it was pushed into a smaller but still capable Wedon b59 twin engine bomber with the same amount of success. In total 8000 of these engines were created and many were made in the b59, over 3000 b59 were made.
