Description

The .M 36 was a Seaplane Torpedo fighter bomber,built by Santoni from 1939 to 1941

Obviously, the aircraft was substantially less agile and slower than other fighters, and more so if flying with a Torpedo. .M 36 squadrons were almost always accompanied by Four-Six G55s or other fighters,or Warship AA. The C (Catapultabile) version was launched from ships and redocked with the use of cranes, hence why the pins on the cowling and behind the cockpit.It had wheels for docking into ports,not for landing or taking off on conventional airports.The plane showed great resilience and was the key in many naval operations against Allies ships.This particular .M 36 was part of the 1st Torpedo bomber squadron based in Falerna (south Italy) and Bayda (northern Libya),and was the flight leader of the squadron, composed of 5 other .M 36s. It downed 3 french planes and 1 american plane, as the killcounts on the right side show.
