Tarantula Hawk MkII

An amphibious VTOL gunship dedicated as a ground pounder with a primary focus on infiltration, S&D, insertion into difficult terrain as a low capacity troop transport with room for 6-8 passengers and crew.

Preferred tactics involve high speed low level insertion into enemy lines then launching a surprise strike onto hostile installations with a barrage of 40mm rounds and rockets to take out major installations then deploying an elite team of soldiers while laying down suppressive fire till the mission is completed

The Tarantula Hawk was designed with maximum protection in mind with prolonged engagement under sustained fire being the primary goal, fitted with armour plating that can resist .50 cal rounds, titanium propeller blades and a heavily armoured cockpit with ballistic resistant windows, biological and radiation filters to protect the pilot and crew

Armament
The mkII variant supports fuselage pylons with 4 hardpoints with optional armaments of rocket pods, AGM’s or guns

2 under wing hardpoints suitable for AGM’s, guns, rocket pods, or drop tanks.

6x40mm pilot operated borfors cannon turret mounted under the nose

Auto targeting 4x .50 cal machine gun mounted on top of the fuselage behind the cockpit.

Countermeasures

11 flare launchers located in the rear tail assembly

Flight Manual

  1. Activate Nav lights and turrets, forward cannon assy and rockets controlled by pitch, roll, yaw and trim
  2. Activate landing lights and cabin lights
  3. Group 5 Activate Gyro ( needed in VTOL mode )
    VTOL: manoeuvres VTOL engines
Landing Gear: raises and lowers access ladder

Take off instructions

Conventional: rotate engines up 5 degrees and apply full power and rotate at 140kts

VTOL: activate group 5, rotate engines to the vertical position and apply power, aircraft will climb at power applications above 45%

Normal flight

Conventional: keep engines rotated a 5 degree up angle and group 5 off and the aircraft will handle just like any other

VTOL: aircraft will hover at around 44% power depending on inertia and load-out, use yaw controls to turn and roll controls to strafe left or right, pitch controls are the same

Transition from VTOL to normal flight

Rotate engines forward to 45 degrees for forward motion until IAS is 150kts or above then disable group 5 and continue rotating engines forward until 5 degrees above horizontal

Remember group 5 must be activated in VTOL mode!

I think I made everything as clear as mud, this is an upgraded version of one of my older builds that I had great fun in harvesting sweet sweet NPC tears with, and I hope you guys will too!

Cheers
