Object 279 is a project of a Soviet super-heavy tank of the Cold War era, it was designed taking into account the conduct of war in a nuclear war. The unique structure of the hull could withstand the effects of a nuclear explosion, and its heavy-duty armor withstood almost any armor-piercing shells of the west of that time. Object 279, in the event of a war with the United States, was supposed to advance west to the Channel, and all sorts of Leopard 1 and M47, M48 Patton could not be compared with it, since object 279 was armed with a 130mm gun. A hit from such a gun did not give them a single chance of survival, the weak armor of Western tanks contributed to this. But, fortunately or unfortunately, the project had to be closed due to the high cost and complexity of production.
