~ Urocyon's Critter Challenge ~ CLOSED
I've noticed that, despite all the unusual builds I've seen here over the years, there's actually not that many critters. So, here's to remedying that, if you're up to it!
Criteria: Build any 3d animal you wish. Your creation should be somewhat mobile: that is, walk, swim, slither or fly. Use of Funky Trees are a plus, but not necessary. Minimum part count is 200.
Please mention in the comments if you're participating and what creature you will be constructing. Please submit as a successor.
Judging will be based on:
*Appearance (1 to 25 points) How closely your creation matches the physical features of your chosen animal. The more details and effort spent will naturally gain you more points. Cartoon styles are also acceptable.
*Functionality (1 to 25 points) Based on how well the creature can move across flat terrain/through the air or on water. Additional functionality, such as head movement, mouth opening etc. will gain 1 additional bonus point each.
*Creative Parts Usage (1-5 bonus points) Use of parts in unique/unusual ways will earn you bonus points.
PRIZES!
First Place = 35 Up-votes (if possible)
Second Place= 20 Up-votes
Third Place= 10 Up-votes.
All entries receive an Up-vote.
*DEADLINE MARCH 15th*, results announced on the 16th OR 17th!

EDIT
For those who are building in a cartoon/anime style, it still has to fit the appearance criteria: that is, it still needs to be recognizable as the particular animal. If a cartoon-y/anime build is heavily based off an image or style, please include a sample or reference image in your upload!

Thanks!

@Urocyon I'll join! With a snake instead!
@Urocyon i was thinking about dragons, mythical creatures etc. Nothing specific in my mind yet!
@Thueerra
Depends on what you're thinking of. If it's a "homebrew" critter, I'd prefer not, so as to better fit the "Appearance" criteria. If it's a well-known fictional critter like a Unicorn or Jackalope (Western U.S.A.) then it'll be fine. What do you have in mind?
.
You make some really neat/well-built jets, so I'm really interested to see what you'd come up with!
can the critter be plausible fictional?
@realSavageMan @winterro
Looking forward to it!
Mmm interesting. Imma actually make a bat that’s capable of spitting china viruses.
Hehe, I found it. Now I just need to make some amazing walker😊
XD
@realSavageMan, you’ll love this challenge, you love worms.
@Rosh im a filipino too wth
Hmm i finished mine XD
I'm innnnn! Well I woul rather use the technique you thought me..
@Urocyon thanks dude
@Tbyte Funky Trees are bits of code that can be inserted into the "inputs" section of various parts that preform functions: anything from guns to pistons, lights and hinges. This vastly increases the usefulness/versatility of said parts, allowing the user to make such things as working instruments, elegant walkers, timed explosives and the like.
.
This was introduced fairly recently, which is why there are comparatively few builds using them, though they're rising in popularity as people familiarize themselves with them.
.
There are a few good tutorials out there to help you learn, try using these:
https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/1042680/Funky-Trees
https://snowflake0s.github.io/funkyguide.html
Also, try downloading creations that use them and see what they do.
.
You can easily attempt this challenge without them though!
Edit: You make some cool stuff, +1 on the rifle!
@ChillDood Movement could be through air, on land or in the water. Water would probably be easiest: I could see, say, an otter made out of buoyant blocks with a hidden (or Not-so-hidden!) jet or propeller for movement (maybe incorporate it as a beanie or jet-pack!). A snake could use hinges for slithering motion and actually be moved via wheels hidden in the head, for example. This challenge is really all about getting out of comfort zones and learning/attempting new things.
.
Use of gyros could help.
.
There's so many WWII challenges and Jet Challenges that I'd thought I'd spice things up and offer something different. After all, that's why it's a challenge!
Dude im new and idk what is funky trees. Can you explain it to me? Pls
@CrazyPenguin1306 If you can't make something walk, you're welcome to enter aquatic creatures! Perhaps a fish or a floating duck using buoyancy parts? You could even hide wheels/propellers if you need to...
I would enter but I can't make anything walk...as in I can't make the legs keep going nor can I make the wings keep flapping and so on... IT'S REALLY SAD CUZ I WANTED TO ENTER THIS! AND I CAN'T MAKE TOMMY THE TURTLE WORK HOW I WANTED HIM TOO
