COCKATRICE: a mythical and heraldic beast, generally described as a cross between a viper and a rooster, having the head of a cock , the body of a snake, the wings of a dragon, a barbed tail; and the ability to petrify prey with a mere touch.

+++ TYPE +++
The COCKATRICE is a heavy jet bomber designed primarily for high speed, high altitude carpet bombing and stand-off cruise missile attacks. The plane shares some conceptual elements with the XB-70 Valkyrie.

+++ ACTIVATION GROUPS +++
1 - BOOSTER ENGINES: Engages the CONSTELLATION integrated engine boost system including the SUN BURST afterburners ands the QUANTUM DRIVE directional thrust/boost engine (VTOL bar up). This group also activates the anti-gravity GRAVITON VTOL motor (VTOL bar down). Finally, this system also features an enhanced gyro-stabilization unit (on whenever AG-1 is active).
2 - MAIN LASER BATTERY: Activates the COCKATRICE's main heavy weaponry, the twin PULSAR dual-beam Shock Bolt pulse cannon, located in the forward chin barbette,
3 - MAIN PROJECTILE WEAPON: Activates the NOVA bomb-rifle system (based on the 50-ton mini-bomb; maximum ammunition capacity: 45 rounds).
4 - AIR to AIR MISSILES: Activates the FANG advanced AA missile system (Interceptor based; total missile load: 32 units).
5 - AIR to GROUND MISSILES: Activates the TALON advanced AG cruise missile system (Cleaver based; total missile load: 54 units).
6 - ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS: Activates the two STAR FIRE II fore and aft anti-aircraft laser pods, located near the wing tips, and the two STAR BURST stern-chaser pulse cannons.
7 - GROUND ASSAULT LASER ARRAY: Activates the twin METEOR STORM ground assault shard laser systems.
8 - DEFAULT SYSTEMS: Deactivating this group disconnects the main UMBRA reactor, deactivating all active sensors (including the PANOPTICON ARRAY), as shown by extinguishing the various engine, radar, and running lights. Disengaging this group also disarms the plane's quick-response auxiliary weapon system, the dual STAR LANCE Maser Cannons.
