During the very late stages of World War II, Hart Armaments designed a "Point Defense Fighter" using new jet engine technology. The reports of the Me-163 Komet rocket fighter had intrigued the Hart Arms corporation engineers, who felt there may be an untapped tactical niche they could fill with the "Antlion" light fighter project.
In the post-war era, the Point Defense Fighter concept never carried very far in Washington, and the project was terminated.
