Image: three BTR-8s stopped in road by car during the Assault of Al Bajiim city (Syrya war)
Shortly after gaining there independence after the Great war (1939-1940) the Wzehkh wanted to move rather quickly from their Crotian designs so
The military would send out a request for new designs by 1947 and Gayla heavy industrys answered the call
Gayla HI designed a all terrain light armored amphibious transport vehicle. This design would intrigue the head of the Department Of the Indemarines.
After a year of testing Gayla HI would release their first model of BTR-8 on January 6 1949.
The BTR-8 would make its combat debut August 23 1949 in the Syrya war. Where they would excel in most places except for their tolerance for the sandy terrain of Syrya.

@Rob119 idk what makes me motivated to draw that tbh lmao
@Rob119 damn i didn't know i was right the whole time
(i'm actually wheezing just reading that xd)
@YarisHatchback also nice art
@YarisHatchback you laugh but that's essentially what happened.
So (lore)
After getting detached somehow from their convoy the three btrs went down the abandoned part of the city.
The driver of the first vehicle had his head out at the time, so after turning down a street he could see the whole city. Anyways a little later a red pigeon van flew past a corner straight down there street. So now the btrs and pigeon van were playing a 13,000 ton game of chicken.
As the van came barreling down the street it became clear to the driver, that it wasn't gunna stop. So he order his crew to stop which intern stopped the convoy.
But the van just got closer and closer, till the driver suspected it a suicide car, then ducked down a slammed the hatch shut preparing for a explosion.
Then after a minute or so, the driver (realizing he wasn't dead) looked through his optics to see not only the red van, but a very angry old Asian lady. Now worried he poked his head out just a little, to which the lady angrily got out of the van and proceeded to yell very loudly at the btr whilst hitting it with her purse. Now even more scared the driver alerts his crew of the problem and deals with it. (For more context his family was 1st generation immigrants from Syrya) after convaing to the woman that "if she doesn't move we will run you over" she decided that she wasn't going to. In which case the Now traumatized driver told his convoy that they're just gunna to around her.
After the war the driver stated that "that incident was the most scared I was the whole war" "i felt like my own mother was there... and not at all happy" he retired shortly after that stating "I'm never going to invade another country that has old angry women in it"
Hot dayum that's alotta words
@Rob119
goofy ahh
@Rob119 np, it's way to poggers not to :3
and with that gun barrel placed so close to the chassis, I'd say it has very bad depression
very typical for soviet armored vehicles
@Rob119 imagine getting stopped by a japanese three wheeled van though, must've been scary for the crew xd
@YarisHatchback yep. You should see the airborne version I made
Oh shi thanks for the spotlight @Monarchii
DUDE I DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO USE THE PIGEON VAN I MADE AWHILE AGO
