Back in WWII, aviation was taking big leaps forward every day. One of those technical advances was the V1 Flying Bomb. It was an unmanned aerial weapon, just like a missle. The V1 would point itself toward its target and explode on contact. It proved effective and had a signature "buzz" sound from the pulse-jet on the tail.
