Racing Tank

123k AWESOMENESS360  5.3 years ago

Call me a madman, I won't mind. (I've been called worse, lol)

Normally, when you think of a tank, most people think of a huge, heavy, slow monster that obliterates everything in it's path. However, most modern tanks today are actually pretty fast, in fact the T-14 Armata has a top speed of over 50mph! While the record for the fastest tank belongs to the BT-2, at 114kmh, (85mph) that's still nothing compared to this tank's top speed of 150+mph!

I propose the idea of tank racing, a new potential sport that could go really good or really bad. Basically, you and your team are given a budget to work with, to create the fastest tank-styled machine you can, and then race it against other teams. You're given a chassis, and a non-lethal cannon to equip your tank with. (Basically a gun that really doesn't do anything except for annoying and/or distracting other teams)

Said tanks would be raced in many conditions, such as road, off-road, and rally style events. The rounds would be elimination based, where the last team to cross the finish line is eliminated from the game, and the rest continue. The winning team earns a cash reward, or a trophy or something.

Controls: Pitch and Roll to drive, VTOL and TRIM control the turret, although you have very limited turret controls, otherwise it wouldn't be very safe, for both you and other teams. (Imagine you're firing at someone, but you have your turret turned all the way around, you wouldn't be able to see the track ahead, which could cause a crash to occur) Dispense Countermeasures to fire the non-lethal gun. I chose to use flares because they create a smoke trail behind them, which can alert referees where you're firing, if you're firing somewhere you shouldn't be.

This is just an example of what a racing tank could look like.
Here's some pictures:

I will accept constructive criticism on my idea of tank racing. What? You thought I was joking? Nope, I feel like this could actually become a pretty cool idea in the future!

Also, one thing I will recommend before downloading is to listen to either of these songs while playing:

@AWESOMENESS360 ive also used xml to put a whole lot of fuel but it didn't work.

@AWESOMENESS360 also this is a fun tank to play with, but it has a high fuel consumption

@AWESOMENESS360 oh hell yeah,we also know that pesky Stridsvagen 103 and that hull down God of doom, the crane wagon.

@AstonMartin145 well, that and the fact that it's got some rather powerful engine-strength to weight ratio.

hmm..im guessing this thing is a really fast UDES 15/16 cause of that really well angled front :3

@asteroidbook345 ok, how exactly do you plan on:
    - building the tank's chassis
    - building/purchasing the tank's engine(s)
    - building a functional turret that shoots potatoes, like you said earlier
    - building the tank's tracks
    - electrically wiring everything for brake lights, etc.
    - having enough money to do all of the above

@AWESOMENESS360 I was saying as tank joke, but yeah.
Also neat little trick is messing with the Input like how it's usually set by default at 1 you can set it at 0.65 or 0.45 and it will change the sound little but only the by pitch but that's a bunch of XML-Mumbo-Jumbo.
Also here's example of what I'm talking about. Linky link

    1. Ok, sure!
    2. Lol, now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this in Girls Und Panzer.

@Roswell Yeah, Gas Turbines aren't exactly in the game, unfortunately. Thanks though, all you need to do is fine-tune a normal Prop Engine, and a WWII Prop Engine into the body of the creation so they're hidden, and set their input to pitch, or whatever you're using as throttle. Then, you'll have a cool engine sound-effect that'll spice up your builds!

@BogdanX just a little bit of imagination, a little bit of cool/bad ideas, and a little bit of boredom! Well, that and the fact that I wanted to see if I could get a tank to make the jumps at SkyPark. I was actually just planning on making the chassis, but I guess I got a bit carried away, lol.

Man I love the the sound of this.
But I'm pretty sure if you want true speed you would use a gas turbine engine but again I really love how it sounds like diesel.
