Canadair CL-84
This is the Canadian version tilt-wing of the 60's. Also never saw production despite mostly successful performance. "What's that all aboat eh?" It's a little trickier than my USA model, but the controls are the same.
> CONTROLS
• 1 unlocks tail pitch rotor
• 2 unlocks prop nozzle angle (VTOL) (prerequisite to achieving thrust)
• 3 unlocks primary wing pitch (VTOL)
• 4 unlocks rear landing gear (VTOL up). Activator 1 may be left on but it t is important to use each other activator separately.
* In real life this aircraft typically flies with its primary wings just shy of flat. The same is best for this model. (I'm talkin' barely)
> VERTICAL TAKE-OFF
• Full throttle
• Move VTOL slider between top marks
• Activate 1 & 2 aircraft will begin to rise
• Deactivate 2 and return VTOL slider to center
• Activate 3 with your slider still up and your wings will slowly move into position. All you have to do is keep her level.
• Activate 4 and VTOL up to retract landing gear. Yes, the gear sit on the outside of the fuselage when retracted. That is true to the real life design.
> SHORT TAKE-OFF
• Full throttle
• Move VTOL slider to upper-middle mark
• Activate 1, 2 & 3
• Pull up
• Deactivate 2
• Slide wings forward (VTOL)
* You will likely crash n burn multiple times, learning to take off, but forward flight is better. Enjoy!

32.7k Wakescar@FlOu This isn't the info you were looking for (standby) but maybe another useful trick you could apply somewhere. ^9.5 years ago

32.7k Wakescar@ElijtheGeat Lol I did feel rather magical when I pulled the few hundred pound frame out of the inside and it stayed together when I loaded the level. I was like: ...?!... I accidentally removed what I thought was a crucial block, but nothing came off with it. So I took the rest out and ended up with this. A hollow (and lighter) wing panel body. Too bad it wasn't enough to make this thing fly the way I wanted it to. I think the trick to reproducing this type of thing is to put the wing panels together like you want them, then move on for a while. Attaching and removing other blocks elsewhere seems to fuse wing pieces together at the edges. Then you can remove whatever dead weight you used to attach them in the first place.9.5 years ago

14.0k ElijtheGeatI saw it at first thought about it for about 2 seconds, then convinced myself that you were a warlock and just left it at that :)9.5 years ago

14.0k ElijtheGeatI see it now that you point it out, never really thought about it. very cool9.5 years ago

8,644 Forwind@Wakescar I just found out how to fuse nosecones in to blocks so just wait on more interesting builds ;)9.6 years ago

32.7k Wakescar@Forwind No need to thank me, you did all the work! I like your style. With a few more tricks up your sleeve you'll really be killin it.9.6 years ago

32.7k Wakescar@Vikdesigns haha it's not you man, I couldn't get this one balanced all the way at this size and still have it look like the real one. It's close but still very hard to take off with. Thanks for checking it out!9.6 years ago
-
32.7k Wakescar@WeeBabySeamus Thanx dude! I know this design 90% black magic (landing gear, cockpit, prop engine assemblies, hollow body) but I have become quite fond of it. It's too bad I couldn't make it any easier to fly. Not so popular despite the acute awesomeness of the dark art features.9.6 years ago

Dev weebabyseamusDude that cockpit is amazing looking. Loving all the tilt rotors, the next evolution is to do an osprey, Just sayin :)9.6 years ago
-
32.7k Wakescar@ElijtheGeat I agree. It was very hard to balance such a small package and keep it looking accurate. But it took so long to get this close I had to post it. I'm totally done with tilt-wings; Just like the government haha. Thanks for looking dude!9.6 years ago
-
14.0k ElijtheGeatyour last one was probably better, but you can't get much better than this at this size9.6 years ago
