Only brought out during closed circuit races, the pace plane has become an icon of the Aerolight Racing League.
The Pace Plane is a specially designed plane that sets the pace for the racers, and leads them in the first few laps of the race while the starting order is arranged. It is equipped with a specially designed holographic display that projects an indicator for the racers to follow. During the pace laps, the indicator will be yellow, and flash to green before the pace plane leaves the race lane. If there is an emergency or an accident, the pace plane will take up place on the track with a red indicator, at which point all remaining racers line up behind it, and wait to see if the race is called, or if they can continue.
