The Terrace L. Smith-class frigate is a Paternian multirole frigade designed by Paternian Defense Industries as a cost-effective general-purpose convoy escort with a crew of 230 sailors. The lead ship, the PRN Terrace L. Smith (FFG-5) was named after Private First Class Terrace Lawrence Smith, a member of the Paternian Republic Marine Corps who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Valor, the highest military award in the Paternian military.

To this effect, it is armed with 24 D. Corporation-designed Mk 44 Modular VLS tubes, a Navy-designed 76mm Mk 77 dual-role cannon, and the 20mm Mk 15 Mod 2 Phalanx CIWS. The Mk 44 is compatible with the Mk 56 quad-cell Sea Sparrow VLS system. Fitted with multirole radar and sonar systems, it is a formidable threat to missile boats, aircraft, and submarines.

With a top speed of 38 knots and advanced steering systems, it is a very fast and agile warship. The TLS-class frigate can carry up to two SH-90A Lynx ASW helicopters. This particular vessel is fitted with 16 Mk 44 VLS tubes and 8 Mk 56 VLS quad-cell tubes.
