Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor
Hey everyone. Zerø here from simpleplanes.com. And in this SimplePlanes post, I present to you the Raptor.
A bit of a simple creation. I thought I'd try out different things once in a while, and honestly, I'm quite proud of it.
Also, this was an entry for tarikGR's Stealth Challenge.
Introduction:
The Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor is a 5th generation fighter, and one of the most feared aircrafts in the world. The Raptor featured the technology of Thrust Vectoring and Stealth. Common misconception about stealth is it makes the aircraft fully invisible to radar. While it does cloak itself under the radar, it's not impossible to detect. The radar just has a hard time of doing it. However, this seemingly terrifying aircraft is not without it's flaws. Overtime, the aircraft will be left behind in technologies, due to it's quite complex design. It also lacked at air-to-ground capabilities. While it could do it, the result wouldn't be as good as, say the F-35.
History:
In 1981, the US felt the need to counteract the production of the Su-27 and MiG-29s, so the USAF launched a program called "Advanced Tactical Fighter", or ATF for short, intended to replace the F-15 Eagles and the F-16 Fighting Falcons. Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed, McDonnell Douglas, and Northrop was up for the challenge. Lockheed teamed up with both General Dynamics and Boeing, while Northrop partnered up with McDonnell Douglas.
In 1986, both teams had proposed their prototypes. The two prototypes are the YF-22 by Lockheed, and the YF-23 by Norhtrop. Both teams then took a 50-month demonstration phase.
In 1991, the YF-22 was selected as the winner for the ATF program. It had a more conventional design than the YF-23, and it was more maneuverable than it's competitor. Lockheed then improved it's design, and the Raptor received it's maiden flight in 7th of September 1997.
Loadout:
- 1x M61A1
A 6 barreled rotary cannon that can fire 20mm at a rate of 6000rpm. It's slanted about 3 degrees upward. - 6x AIM-120C AMRAAM
An advanced medium or beyond visual range missile, standard use for most of aircrafts. - 2x AIM-9X Sidewinder
A heatseeking close range missile, and the latest iteration of the AIM-9 series, featuring thrust vectoring.
Controls & Features:
Controls:
VTOL
: FlapsAG1
: Open Internal Weapons Bay ManuallyAG2
: Reduce G-LimiterAG8
: Deactivate TVC
Features:
- Brakes by control surface.
- Automatic Weapons Bay, it will open 0.2 seconds before you've locked on to enemies.
- Thrust Vectoring Controls. Disable by AG8.
- PSM Capable. Though, you gotta be REALLY slow for it to work. 140kts should do. After you hit 140 and slowing down, you need to check if you have AG2 on. If not, turn it on. After that, push throttle to max, then pull as hard as you can. You gotta be fast though, the afterburner in this thing is powerful.

That was all. Enjoy, and fly safe!

This has to be the best raptor in the 350 part counts
@UmbrellaCorporation
Do it yourself, it's much more satisfying.
Which is why most of the time I refuse to modify other people's creations as it's much more satisfying if you make it yourself.
@SemiCollin That's how the Raptor can yaw without using rudders. Using the rudders could compromise a bit of stealth, so thrust differential is used instead.
The picture shows the right nozzle extending, as to increase thrust on one side and turn to the left.
@SemiCollin
No. That's not what you call a Roll TVC.
@ZeroWithSlashedO https://ibb.co/mzcdT2x
@ZeroWithSlashedO it literally does
@SemiCollin
No, the F-22 doesn't have Roll TVC.
@ZeroWithSlashedO but it does, it has roll thrust vectoring that has the nozzles on one side go up, and the other it goes down, but it doesn't have yaw vectoring if that's what you meant
@Itirv123
As long as you credit me, I don't mind.
@zerowithslashed0 Hey, can I make this so it can reverse thrust and use an actual startup to go? I’ve already made it for my use I just want to know if you would want to see that.
@SemiCollin
Because it doesn't have one in the first place.
Very nice plane, but there is no roll thrust vectoring
i love how clean this plane is.
i can even get that new car smell by just seeing it on the screen
There is only one word for this:
WWWOOOWWW
The missiles track so well, it even comes back to target and destroys it after a miss
非常好工作,爱来自中国🇨🇳
I lost the challenge already, this is just good.
Ehehehe I thought it is has a VR cockpit
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
“Boy am I glad three strikes is here” some guy on the ground idk
"That's our trigger!"
I dont know if you're planning for f 35 but it would be nice to have a smooth vertical takeoff
Nice
I love how the F-22 was unnecessarily advanced for its time
Much better than the F-35, still
