1 flaps 4 drop pylons 8 navlights Entering the Vietnam Conflict, the Ridge P-22 had a unique opportunity to take on a role not once considered for the aircraft. Due to the decreased size and more efficient engines, the Mk.6 Falcon was an ideal base for a ground support aircraft. Outfitted with twin autocannons and explosive large bore guns, the Mk.6 lost its Nuclear strike option for a conventional bombing layout and upgraded onboard electronics. A 2nd seat was added for an Electronics Control Officer to operate the massively enhanced aircraft. The final redesign of the P-22 saw great success in its new role, and was retired in 1973.
