KV-2 1940
“KV-2”heavy tank.On the eve of World War II, the headquarters of the northwest front army of the Soviet Union required the installation of 152mm howitzers for four "KV-1" used in the test. The best designers of KTZ Design Bureau were called together to complete the project. Two weeks later, a new test model was designed. At first, the designer decided to install the 152mm mod1909 / 1930 howitzer, which was eventually replaced by the more modern 152mm M-10 model 1938 / 1940 howitzer. A new and larger turret, named MT-1, was also designed to accommodate the heavy gun. As it was officially adopted by the military, it was called "KV-2", while the Soviet soldiers called it "kV s Bolshoi bashnei". Equipped with 152mm howitzer, it has powerful firepower, and its huge body is called "gigant" by the German army. From 1940 to 1941, 202 "KV-2" tanks (including the trial type with additional production)were produced.
