Mikoyan MiG-29A Fulcrum
Hey everyone. Zerø here from simpleplanes.com. And in this SimplePlanes post, I present to you: the MiG-29A.
Honestly, I'm surprised that I can finish this in about a week or two. But then again, it's a "simple" (ignore the fact that it has 3.2k performance cost... How the f#ck did I do that?) creation for a challenge. Granted, I could modify my Viper to enter the challenge, but I want to make something different. And since the MiG-29 is a bit simple, I'd say why not?
Oh also, cockpit is a bit uncomfortable, so I don't really expect this to be curated... But if it did, alright I guess.
XML Updates:
V.1:
- Added the capability to be controlled by AI, mainly for the dogfight competition. Activated automatically, and can be deactivated through AG3.
- Reduced elevon deflection range.
Introduction:
The Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum is one of the first, if not the first 4th generation fighter. The MiG-29A featured 2x RD-33 engines, and a blended wing fuselage. It has a great performance, and is capable of being Supermaneuverable. However, due to it being the first 4th generation fighters, the avionics, and the designs itself proved to be a bit of a lackluster compared to other 4th generations, such as the F-14.
History:
During the height of the Cold War, Soviet Intelligence reports the possibility of a new, and more advanced american air superiority fighter than it's previous ones. This, as you might see, can cause a massive disadvantage for the Soviet Union. Thus, the development of a new air superiority fighters was a necessity for the Soviets to gain the upper hands on the Americans. A program was issued in 1969 by the Soviet General Staff. The program had very ambitious requirements. TsAGI and Sukhoi was up for the challenge. However in 1971, Soviets discovered that they needed more than one Air Superiority fighter. They needed a lightweight and a more heavier fighter. Thus, the work was split between Mikoyan (who worked with the lightweight fighter) and Sukhoi (who worked with the more heavier fighter). Mikoyan ended up with the design of the MiG-29. The MiG-29 was great, but not without shortcomings and bad reputations. These shortcomings included the short amount of fuel able to be loaded onto the aircraft, and the massive amounts of smoke coming out from the engines for some time. It also has a reputation of being bad because of the amount of shoot downs for the MiG-29.
Loadout:
(Most are kept stock due to challenge requirements, although I did add Proxy Explosion to the missiles, you can't tell me that's not allowed.)
- 1x Minigun
- 1x Centreline Drop Tank
- 2x R-27ET Alamo-Ds
- 4x R-73E Archers
haha full EO loadout go brr

Takin' off in the dirt.
Poppin' some flares.
R-73E shot.
R-27ET shot.
Just flyin' around.
The Fulcrum in it's natural habitat. It waits for a prey to be in their sight low in the valley, and get an easy, sneaky kill on them.
I don't typically do roundels, but Soyuz nerushimyy respublik svobodnykh-
Beautiful top side of the aircraft.
An afterburner shot.
I hope this does well :D
Also be careful with the fuel. There's not alot of fuel, and fuel consumption is also pretty fast for some reason.
With that being said, enjoy, and fly safe!

@Bird6369
well you see
it's called "variables"
@ZeroWithSlashedO can you explain how the exhaust nozzle work why is it only "nozzle"in the funky tree?
Make no mistake. This can definitely destroy the f-14
@KDnotSpy hehe
"cockpit is a bit uncomfortable"
Welcome to Soviet engineering
✅
I was planing ti make a mirage 4000 to the cold war challenge but after some thinking i scraped and go remaster challenge instead so im counting on you :D
Damn
Im finally top 2 in the challenge
(I used to rule the world)

@SoupTime9957
Well... I did say "one of the first, if not the first", so yeah.
@SoupTime9957 He might mean Russian 4 gen
Very nice plane but the Mig-29 is not the first 4th gen fighter jet, the F-14 had it's first flight 7 years earlier than the Mig-29. That being said it is still a very nice build and it's still getting an upvote from me
Very compitent fighter when I few it against mine. Capable of very good dogfight maneuver, starts from going into hammerhead then split s at low speed, mine overshot every time
Looks like i have new challenger
Finally A "669" Parts
