You can get pretty far distances with the grenade launcher though you just have to park your shots. Which is something I hope you be doing anyway. You also forgot to mention that machine guns can be used as AA weaponry.@Pilotmario
But a machine gun fires much farther and with greater accuracy due to the high-velocity ammunition. Machine gun ammunition is typically much cheaper than the equivalent grenade round. @Flash0of0green

On the other hand grenade launchers are much more versatile than any machine gun could ever be. They are many more different types of grenades and there are rounds for a machine gun.@Pilotmario

To be honest, the only true heavy fire support weapon for this vehicle would be a 105mm LV-Coilgun.
