105mm Howitzer M303 on Carriage M305 and M320
The M303 Howitzer is the primary long-range fixed artillery piece employed by the Paternian Army. Derived from the 105mm Gun M4 formerly used on the M3 Avenger, the weapon is a shorter-barreled variant. It is primarily employed on two carriages: the M305 and the M320. The M305 carriage is a standard towed carriage employed for more mobile operations, where the M320 is a semi-permanent mount for when firepower and accuracy in combination with a dedicated fire control unit is necessary over mobility. The howitzer unit themselves are easily removable in the field, have an integrated and highly compact semi-magnetic recoil buffer (a product of its tank gun origins), and is incredibly accurate. Combined with the long range and improved fillers that provide incredible blast effect, these guns are incredibly effective systems. The M305 carriage has a base stand which is moved into position via throttle, and AG1+VTOL control baseplate traverse, where AG2+VTOL control carriage traverse. To split the trail, use LandingGear. On M320 mount, traverse is controlled via VTOL only. In both cases, Trim controls elevation.
