After WW1 ended, the Italian Kingdom had a massive lack of bombers. Some squadrons were still equipped with S10 Arpiones, that were massively outdated and not a good way to show the air force to other nations.

At the Lyon Military air show of 1924,a new white plane suddenly appeared before the spectators. It was following a squadron of Avro 549 Adlershots from Britain. It quickly out runned them and landed on Rnw 2.The pilot was Alberto Massitani,a ww1 fighter ace, with 78 confirmed kills.

The crowd was surprised of seeing this new and unheard of plane. Many people actually asked the directors of the show to make the SIB15 fly again.

It first saw combat in 1926,in the Italo-Murowka war wearing Italian liveries, White fuselage and tricolor wing tips.It did exceptionally well against tanks and light armored vehicles, but not against bunkers and buildings.
