Wins C-266 Tactical Transport
Design Concept:
Over the wings mounted jet design was to reduce the risk of engines receiving direct enemy ground fire and place it far above to avoid debris from unpaved runways. Wins C-266 is based on the turboprop regional transport plane Win C240
Background
In 2011 US Army is looking for a tactical transport aircraft (Aircraft designed primarily for the carriage of personnel and/or cargo over short or medium distances) with STOL capabilities.
To meet the front line rough terrain air transport requirements, The U.S. Amry ordered a competition offer to Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Win's Wing's design Bureau to develop a small size, robust Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) transport. Win's Wing's design was selected in the competition. C-226 was developed and entered into service in 2022. They were used as liaison and general personnel transport. The plane was powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-41 engines.
The U.S. Navy followed suit in 2024, ordering a version of the Super Super C266B (modified with a 1.32 m by 1.32 m; 52 inch by 52 inch cargo door), designating it the C266B, for logistics support between Naval and Marine Corps air stations, air facilities, and other activities, both in and overseas. The cabin can readily accommodate cargo, passengers, or both. It is also equipped to accept patients in medical evacuation missions. By 2026, US Air Force has ordered 84 of these aircraft.
Armament:
Normally, there are No armaments, but defensive countermeasures only.
There are 2 under wings hard points, which can also carry air-to-air or air-to-ground missils for petrol missions.
Win's Wings design Bureau is welcome for feedback form our customer air forces, and upvotes if you like the design ! Enjoy.
