Kalinin K-7
The Kalinin K-7 was a ship designed in the early thirties by soviet aeronautical engineer Konstantin Kalinin. It was intended to be a large civilian transport vehicle, but when Kalinin commissioned for one to be built, he was told that it must also be able to be used as a heavy bomber/paratrooper carrier. It was built over the course of two years starting in 1931 and ending in 1933. It's first flight took place on the 11th of August, 1933.
The craft completed 7 test runs but on the eight test run it crashed due to one of the tail booms failing mid flight. The crash killed all 14 crew members aboard and one other person on the ground. A second K-7 was never built. The crash is said to have been the result of sabotage.
The actual K-7 had under-mounted booms from which the landing gear was mounted. I cannot add them, as my phone can hardly handle the size of the plane as is. It is my hope that someone on a more powerful machine who is better at simpleplanes than I could have a go and finished the plane. I would really like to see this plane completed. That would be quite something.
