ACF-34c Harpy

180 SuperJesse64  4.8 years ago

Originally developed in the early-mid 1930s by Boeing to counter Soviet planes during the Cascade-Soviet War, the ACF-34 (Air Combat Fighter, 1934)/ 'Fighter, Model 91,' more commonly known as the 'Harpy,' served as one of Cascadia's premier monowing fighter planes before, during, and after WWII. With its 'roadster' cockpit, .50 caliber MGs and payload of unguided rockets, the Harpy became a staple of Cascadia's air force and navy until it was replaced by jet fighters.
The later 'B' variant was developed in the 1930s for use on carriers, replacing older carrier-borne biplanes. The C-variant introduced additional airbrakes to allow the plane to drop behind a pursuer to attack from the rear, which proved crucial in combating the IJN's A6M Zero; baiting the enemy plane into moving fast enough to lock its control surfaces, then dropping behind it to attack.
Unfortunately, the Harpy quickly fell out of favor after the war. While it did see some use in Korea alongside UN forces, it was quickly ousted in the fighter department by jet fighters, while it's role as a ground-attack craft was replaced by the A-1 Skyraider. Several models now serve as museum pieces in Cascadia and Japan, and some still see use under private collectors as part of air shows. Several Harpies can be found as part of the Cascadia Museum of Military History's diorama of the Battle of Midway.

Controls:
1 - Arrestor Hook

NOTE: Sorry if she's not what you might expect for a fighter. The craft is technically smaller in my lore. :/
EDIT: Moved the landing gear closer to the fuselage.
