1: Retract landing gear and activate 1 (VTOL) 2: Throttle to 100%, adjusting VTOL slider as necessary. 3: Activate 2 (Propellers) and after about 1 sec, deactivate 1. It takes practice, but can be done. Unfortunately, the weight of the flotation system is still added to the plane, so it's a bit heavy. Enjoy, and don't forget to rate!
EDIT: Turns out that if you activate the VTOL while the slider is up and you're flying using propellers, you get near-perfect handling.
