Hawk Fighter
"The finest fighter aircraft ever devised by any force to date. Nothing can place speed, maneuverability and firepower of this magnitude in such a simple and low-cost platform."
-General Armstrong Victor
Designed by Pilotmario Air Force General Armstrong Victor as a simple and cheap yet high-performance aircraft, it has been the staple of Pilotmario Air Force pilots for ages, only recently replaced by the Renegade Fighter. It was highly successful, with 9,500 off all types built, in addition to 1,000 built under license globally.
Its first combat was in the Second Olympian War, where they proved vastly superior to the Athena prop-driven fighter in service at the time. However, during the Third Olympian War, they were sorely outclassed by the Hermes, due to its superior speed and maneuverability, and were shot down in droves. Only with the introduction of the Interceptor missile and revised tactics could the Hawk engage the Hermes on equal terms. These machines were replaced when the Renegade and Dart became available in numbers.
While not remarkable, it was exported widely due to its low price and operating costs. Unfortunately it is mostly associated with General Armstrong Victor's obsession with the aircraft. He believed it could replace the Pummeler Attacker and would render the Dart Interceptor program obsolete. These Hawk variants failed, and he was forced to resign amid controversy of the excessive spending on the development of this jet. Despite this bad connotation, it is loved by its pilots, feared by its opponents and is still in service with some export customers.
