MRF Python 2 (Remake)
The Python 2 is a multi-role fighter developed by the Terran Aeronautics Company in 3099 as the successor to the Python 1. Plagued by espionage, corporate sabotage, and technological setbacks, the Python 2 would suffer greatly in its design but would surprisingly prove itself an effective fighter plane for the Terran Armed Forces.
During the 2nd Septerran War, Terran industry and innovation suffered devastating setbacks at the hands of the Septan Empire's spy networks, who managed to sabotage super factories, Epsilon A and B, and assassinate many talented engineers and inventors resulting in a near-total collapse of Terran industrial and technological capabilities. Many projects and ongoing production of new military technology were halted or outright ceased development as a consequence of the damage caused, the Python 2 was born out of this crisis.
Utilizing leftover surplus components from the older Endevaur 2, technicians and engineers abandoned the monowing design of the Python 1 and attempted to modernize the Endevaur 2's original design. Unlike the Python 1, the Python 2 lacked many of the extensive electronic systems expected of a modern attack craft, it was equipped with an inferior targeting system, shortages in hydrogen fuel tank technologies forced engineers to downgrade its hydrogen thrusters for standard jet fuel thrusters decreasing the potential thrust output of the engine, and it used heavily modified but outdated weapon hardpoint system from the older Endevaur 2 which reduced the amount of firepower it could carry.
Despite its rough start, the Python 2 would surprise military experts on both the Septan and Terran sides by performing well against its more modern opponents. The Python 2 was a beast at dogfighting, capable of making sharper turns than its predecessor, and coupled with 6 .50 caliber machineguns mounted on both wings made it a terrifying opponent to face down at close range, against ground targets, the Python 2 came equipped with twin 50mm autocannons which proved devastating against armored vehicles and infantry, the overall bulk of its design also allowed it to survive more of a punishment than some of its more modern brethren, on the logistical side, its lack of extensive electronic systems made it incredibly easy to maintain, allowing a small flight group of Python 2 pilots to stay active on the field despite common repair part shortages which slowed down units with more advanced attack craft.
The Python 2 would serve admirably for a good long while during the 2nd Septerran War. When the Septan Queen was killed on the 'Battle Above Terra' in 3102, many of the elaborate spy networks and strike groups strewn about the Loose Chain collapsed allowing Terra and its allies to recover from the Queen's near-constant aggression, this period of minor rest allowed Terra to recover from the collapse of their industrial base, allowing for the development of more advanced weaponry to continue unabated. The Python 2 would slowly be replaced by the introduction of the new Python 3 in 3107 which would take the lessons learned by the Python 2's success and improve on its design.
Back again with another remake, this time the original Python 2! Controls should be self-explanatory, and you can still jettison weapons like the Python 1. As always, have fun flying :DDD
