In May, 1941, she took part in the Murder and demolition of the Battleship 'Bismarck', landing the last torpedo hit on the Bismarck. In November, she helped search for the cruiser 'Admiral Hipper' and the Auxiliary Cruiser 'Atlantis'. After Pearl Harbor, she was moved from the Atlantic to the Pacific in March 1942. While transiting to Colombo, the Dorsetshire and her sister Cornwall were sunk by Japanese dive bombers in April, 1942.
