Sissor Lift (OS)

This is a scissor lift, made by seeing one, and by a former SP user suggested it, and asked to build it, so I did, and just from what I saw I built from my head, and here is what I came up with!

Well I did not 100% make this from my mind, the user who told me to build one said having a piston behind and pushing it to expand the machine, was a better idea, than what I thought, which was a suspension as piston, and a piston pushing upwards in the middle, but he/she is an engineer so I went by his idea.

Hope y’all like

@WaitBreadIsntAfruit ok yeah I see what you mean with that but the point still remains

Lol btw who's the user who recommended this to you? It seems like ur trying to keep them anonymous but maybe they could provide some insight into this.

I’ll draw something soon. But the bar on the first triangle is what the piston would be attached to@UltraLight

@WaitBreadIsntAfruit when I say "unit," basically its just for reference. Like in geometry on a problem with no units(such as feet), say you answer that the area of the circle is "500," but really the more correct answer is "500 square units"

Idk how to explain it. Its like a measure of distance but it could really be anything. Almost like a variable but not really.

Saying one thing is "1 unit in length" and another is "2 units in length" is like saying the second object is twice as long.

My brain smoooth, I think I get it, I don’t get it cus it seems like the middle piston would be more precise, and wuts a unit @UltraLight

@BreadIsAfruit yeah lol I was probably confusing. Thanks for reading it tho

I can't resist from trying to re-explain the torque/gear ratio thing tho. Basically, what I meant is, if you just have the piston lifting the platform, we can say it has a length of 1 unit. But by building the scissor arm size differently in the "piston behind" position, you can adjust whether the piston length is 2 units, or 0.5 units. That way, you can be more compact, or maybe if the piston it longer then you can be more precise in platform height.

Idk probably comfused you more lmao

Yeah that's cool how the pistons are behind it, I would've thought to put it in the middle too but obviously then the scissor is nearly useless.

I'm sure there's like a torque/gear ratio(but no gears lol) thing behind it, why the piston is more useful there. But of course it has to be used in real life so that arrangement allows for easy packaging(the piston can be under a truck cab for example) but also it would be easier to service if the hydraulics leak or something, due to the piston being closer to the ground. Anyway just some thoughts

    Cool build though
