This was a high altitude/heavy fighter that was designed to attack high flying German bombers if Germany intitated another air attack on England, though Germany never attacked again and the Welkin was considered obsolete and eventually modified Supermarine Spitfires became cabable of achieving the same result in a smaller more manuveraible aircraft
