The P-51-D was the first fighter aircraft used by the Philippine Airforce. First purchased in the same year the force was founded, 1947. Though by the time of 1947, with the development of jet aircraft the P-51 was dated by comparison, yet still posed a threat in the ground attack role, which during the numerous conflicts the blossoming republic saw itself through (insurgencies) proved quite useful. It was used as a trainer up until it's full retirement in the 1980s.

This aircraft has a full start-up procedure:

DO THIS ALL IN THE EXACT ORDER

-Set Carburetor Air Control forward on the bottom left pannel in the cockpit.
-Turn on Oil Control and Radiator Coolant on the left hand pannel.
-On the right side pannel turn on Battery Disconnect and Generator Disconnect.
-On the forward pannel set the Fuel Shutoff lever to on.
-Turn on the ignition switch on the forward pannel.
-Turn on the Fuel Booster switch on the forward pannel
-Turn on the Primer
-Turn on the Starter
-Enjoy the flight

Weapon Switches:

-All of the weapon controls are located on the lower front panel.
-Turn on the "Arm" switch
-Select the "Left Chem" and "Right Release" switches to use bombs.
-Turn on the pivot switch labelled rockets, I recommend turning this on before flight since it is located behind the flight stick.
"Turn on the Guns and Gunsight switch to use the... Guns"

Other features:

-On the front panel there is the super charger switch, use the red lever next to the throttle to control. Don't use for too long, it consumes a lot of fuel.
-To Jettison stores without power use the two levers on the bottom side of the throttle panel.
-Many lights and switches for them, just look at the labels.
-Canopy open crank on the right side.
