Brief History
The MIK MPA-50 Starseas is an aircraft developed for the fight against surface ships and submarines. It has been designed for coastal and in-depth maritime patrol. It can operate for hours and combat with any weather condition. Its detection systems, radar, aiming systems, electronic countermeasures and weapons systems, make it a very interesting option to replace the old P-3 Orion in many navies. It has Harpoon missiles with an enlarged explosive charge, which allow the destruction of almost any warship. On the other hand, it has echolocation sonobuoys to combat submarines and stealth ships. It also has an advanced electro-optical aiming system, which allows launching MK-82 bombs with a 1-phase self-propelled system. This type of bombs are launched at high speed and facilitate the destruction of any target.
