This was part of huge development of interceptors during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s this aircraft was Republics design it was powered by a Ramjet and would've been capable of reaching Mach 3 it was built primarily for the intercepting of russian bombers, but going Mach 3 means it can't use bullets so on it's flanks it has 4 weapon bays that open up, the aircraft also uses part of the wing surface as control surfaces this would increse it's manuverability at higher speeds, it was built by not completed (VTOL to open weapon bays)
