Kaman K-MAX
The Kaman K-Max, manufactured by Kaman Aircraft, is an intermeshing rotor that is optimized for heavy external loads. Specifically, the K-Max is used frequently in logging, construction , firefighting, along with an autonomous version that has been developed for the US military. With its counter-rotating intermeshing blades the K-Max eliminates the need for a tail rotor, thus simplifying the transmission and driveshaft. To add to its simplicity , the K-Max utilizes servo controlled flaps on the rotor ends, removing the need for complicated hydraulic pumps to collectively and individually control rotor blades. The powerful K-Max is able to lift upwards of 6,000 lbs which is greater than its unloaded weight of 5,145 lbs. This tremendous carrying capacity can be attributed to from its Honeywell T53-17A-1 turboshaft engine, making 1,350 shp (1,010 kW) flat rated for take-off up to ~29,000 ft to increase transmission life. All together the K-Max is an amazing piece of aerial machinery with capabilities far exceeding traditional rotor technology. My rendition of the K-Max is a perfect match of the real life version (all except rotor flaps). Hopefully you appreciate my representation of the K-Max here in SimplePlanes. To conclude, the controls are as follows:
Activate 1 : Main Engine Startup
Activate 2: Running Lights
Standard controls for pitch/roll/yaw. Enjoy!

@Agrelle no worries I am too. Still a great build
@Agrelle Just keep up the gud work and you'll go far is all i have to say :)
@Skykid028 Lol, yeah I had to disable collision because I'm on mobile. If the simulation is running faster (pc) you can leave collision on.
I'll be honest, I kept adding blades to it to see if they'll smash into each other then realized the collision was disabled. All n all, great design. Flies really well.
@Agrelle np
@K2K Thank you for the praise :)
@GrangerDynamics Thank you! Keep your eyes out!
@LittleJerry Absolutely
@TatsuTheCleaningFairy Thank you!
U will go far my friend. If u keep this up. :)
thinn
Great potential. Keep on doing this kind of good work, I’m looking forward to see the next ones !
Nice
@SpartanDelta1 Definitely, very peculiar and I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to be the first person to try it out but once you understand all the thought behind it it’s wonderful!
Aha lol @Agrelle
@HellouUnt The videos of it were totally my inspiration, the first time I saw it I was mesmerized
@Atskell Thanks! Glad you appreciate it
Buh, I was watching a vid on this earlier
I like it :)
Interesting roter design
