F-86 Sabre
The North American F-86 Sabre, sometimes called the Sabrejet, was a transonic jet fighter aircraft. Produced by North American Aviation, the Sabre is best known as the United States' first swept wing fighter which could counter the similarly-winged Soviet MiG-15 in high-speed dogfights over the skies of the Korean War (1950–1953). Considered one of the best and most important fighter aircraft in that war, the F-86 is also rated highly in comparison with fighters of other eras. Although it was developed in the late 1940s and was outdated by the end of the '50s, the Sabre proved versatile and adaptable, and continued as a front-line fighter in numerous air forces until the last active operational examples were retired by the Bolivian Air Force in 1994. TOP SPEED: 600+ when at >50% fuel VTOL UP activates airbrakes. Not much else to it??

Actually, after looking up the definition of transonic, I've realized that that piece of information, is indeed accurate. Here's a quote from a NASA site. "For aircraft speeds which are very near the speed of sound, the aircraft is said to be transonic. Typical speeds for transonic aircraft are greater than 250 mph but less than 760 mph, and the Mach number M is nearly equal to one, M ~= 1 . While the aircraft itself may be traveling less than the speed of sound, the air going around the aircraft exceeds the speed of sound at some locations on the aircraft." Link to said article. Also, here's Google's definition: denoting or relating to speeds close to that of sound. @laserborn88
Oh ok I don't know why it's classified as a transonic fighter
@Allstar
This was pretty much a year ago... It's just a copy-paste from Wikipedia. @laserborn88
the F86 wasn't even close to being transonic it was a sub sonic aircraft transonic means faster the MACH5
@Allstar is it just me or does it say this is based off of my ka-17??
