Early Jet Challenge Supermarine Attacker
This is my entry to the early jet challenge, the Supermarine Attacker. I must say she is deservedly capable of making my not-so-great series. Intended to replace the legendary spitfire via the spitefuls airframe, the attacker had some very big shoes to fill. The first thing you will probably notice is that she's a tail dragger which entails all the shortcoming of this undercarriage arrangement. Couple this with the jets exhaust and all the RAFs pretty little airfields would get chewed up. Something the top brass would not have liked (after all you can't play croquet when your pitch has furrows all over it!) Allegedly, 3 men could lie down in the furrows it cut into grass airfields. Another shortcoming compared to the spitfire was the aerodynamically inferior wing shape which led to a particular quip of "just should have kept the spitfires wing!" As the RAF had no use for their airfields getting plowed, the FAA was the next potential user, hence this model represented. In an age of rapid advancements in aviation, the attacker was swiftly superseded and taken out of FAA service in 1954, ironically having never attacked anyone. AG1 for folding wings, AG2 arrestor hook, VTOL down for flaps and there's a smattering of bells and whistles to enjoy!

@Tang0five I'll take a look, thanks. I like how you manage to make such good-looking planes with so few parts.
@TheFantasticTyphoon thanks mate, if you like the attacker I did another rendition not so long ago as I was (and still am it seems) in a Fleet Air arm frame of mind!
@BACconcordepilot it was intended for land based use as well to maximise the market so to speak. Many first generation jet fighters had short service lives again due to the rapid advances post Second World War. I guess the problem with aircraft design at the time was there was a great deal of unknowns. I think the Attacker is a neat looking example of early jet fighters.
Thanks very much! @RCBOSS. Too in my interest category to miss this challenge!
