Modern, jet-assisted ornithopter. Fly like a bird, really. That is not just a saying but a guide on how to fly it. Birds do not just flap the whole time even if they could, they do all sorts of things. They flap, they glide, they swoop. Try it, it is loads of fun. Instructions:

a) Basic Flight
Throttle up to 100% and release the landing gear to launch. Flap away to your hearts content. Once you reach a few hundred meters, kill the throttle to glide in a peaceful slow decent. For swooping and more aggressive maneuvers tuck the wings in by extending the landing gear. That is, it! Throttle and landing gear are all you need for basic flight.

b) Advanced Flight & Tactics
Rather than using the landing gear to lock the wings Activate 3 will lock the wings while keeping the landing gear retracted. The Cybird is armed with interceptor missiles, mingun and cannon. The cannon is the best weapon for ground assault. The Cybird glides well so you can loiter over a target. Line up your targets then swoop down and take them out quickly. If you get locked up use the countermeasures, ejecting the POD can also help you escape.

c) Jet Assisted Flight & Taxiing
Activate 3 to pause flapping, adjust the VTOL slider upwards and then Activate 7. Throttle now sends power to the VTOL nozzles.

d) VTOL Pod Flight
Detach the flight pod by Activating 6 then Activate 7. With 6 and 7 both activated, the throttle becomes a PID height control. In this mode, full throttle equals 1000 meters, so 20% is 200 meters etc. Set the throttle and the POD will eventually stabilize and cruise at that height. For fully manual VTOL flight, deactivate 6.

Things to Try:
Land on a mountain and launch from there.
Land on the Islands.
Take out the carrier group with the cannon.
Take out the land convoy with the cannon.
Land on the Aircraft carriers.
Totally cheat the glide challenge.

Controls:
Activate 1 : Activates and extends weapons
Activate 2 : Not used
Activate 3 : Locks wings in low drag position
Activate 4: Cabin Lights
Activate 5: Not used
Activate 6 : Detaches the flight/escape pod.
Activate 7 : Activates the VTOL jets
(Activate 6 & Activate 7) : PID flight control with Throttle controlling height
Activate 8 : Kills the gyros and extends the parking brakes.
