A-16N Hawker Shadow
I’m not going to spout much on the design of this one. This is a redesign of a redesign of a redesign, showing progressive improvement. Family pic included. As for lore, let’s be brief
The A-16 (Designation “Hawker Shadow) and nicknamed penguin by its pilots is a Winolian 5th generation fighter and the birth of the supremacy combat doctrine wherein aircraft dominated battle-spaces through a mix of traditional, electronic and information based warfare through multiple sources. It served as the complement to the A-14 interceptor though in many ways outdid it when it came to offensive combat. While the A-14 was built with as a long range point defence platform, the A-16 was a veritable multirole fighter based for the Navy (STO/AL) and Airforce. It also received a design for a VTOL variant but this never saw service. The A-16 would go on to serve the Winolian Airforce and Navy for a long time, seeing its way past the half century as progressive upgrades only made the platform more lethal. Its design was based on design and technology studies conducted on the F-35 and, more notable, the Chinese JC-31 fighters.
The A-16 was based on proven technology. It’s radar, a quantum processing radar, was one of the first of its kind to be deployed anywhere in the world and the sole most advanced avionic on the craft, hence the level of secrecy placed around it upon its implementation. It features a suite of electronic warfare modules allowing it to operate as a small AWACS, a EW aircraft or combat several fighters from BVR ranges at different angles. Its powerplant is a pair of R6501C Afterburning engines based on advanced EF-2000 engines. It has large internal compartments allowing it to carry a variety of weapons internally. It can carry a full multirole load without having to use any external pylons, at the cost of maneuverability. It carries a 20mm 6-barrel rotary gun and can be fitted for various armaments as part of its modular design.
