About:

Designated the Firebird by NATO, this Chinese 4th generation fighter is built primarily as an air superiority fighter designed to defend Chinese airspace from foreign aircrafts. It is built upon the initial variant of the J-10A, improved with new avionics and it's most obvious improvement of a Divertless Supersonic Inlet implementation.

• Chengdu J-10A Firebird
  The initial production model of the Firebird. Compared to the newer models, the J-10A lacked the DSI of the J-10C and the enlargened fins. It also lacked the ability to carry the newer Air-To-Air missiles.
