Aichi Kokuki Ha-70 Seiran
The Aichi Kokuki Ha-70 Seiran (lit. Clear Sky Storm) is a Japanese fourth-generation, twin-engine, supersonic, single-pilot, carrier-capable all-weather multirole combat fighter designed by Aichi Kokuki as both a carrier-based and land-based fighter aircraft for the Imperial Air Arm as well as the Naval Arm's Naval Air Arm. The fighter was developed from Aichi's older, rejected Ko-60 prototype for a third-generation aircraft (the contract was eventually awarded to Nakajima) as well as data collected from both the Nakajima Na-63 and Mitsubishi Mi-57, combining them with newly-developed technologies and avionics.
The Ha-70 was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to it's simple yet advanced design, combining the latest advances in avionics and radar technologies within a simple, versatile airframe designed to do virtually any role expected of an aircraft within it's size range, fulfilling virtually every role from fighter escort, fleet air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, close air support, aerial reconnaissance, and everything in between.
Despite that, however, the Ha-70 suffered from a multitude of issues, ranging from wing loading to inconvenient cockpit controls placememt, factors which would lead to it being replaced by a significantly better version of the design, the Ha-72 Seiran-Kai.
