This experimental aircraft, named X-59, is highly likely to bring a new spring to supersonic travel. Its fuselage shape is exaggeratedly slender, and every detail has been optimized to gradually compress and expand the air particles passing through. One-third of the 30-meter-long fuselage is a sharp nose, and the cockpit behind the nose can only look up at the sky. The pilot observes the environment ahead through a high-definition panoramic display inside the cockpit. The highly swept wings help disperse the shockwaves generated by the aircraft to farther distances. The purpose of all the design features is not to completely eliminate the shockwaves, but to make the intervals between the shockwaves produced at different points roughly equal, preventing them from merging into a single large shockwave. This softens the intensity of the shockwaves and the resulting sonic boom.
