Sejarah

MiG-21 Fishbed adalah sebuah pesawat tempur sergap berjarak pendek supersonik dan merupakan pesawat produksi generasi pertama dari seri MiG-21 yang populer. Prototipe dari pesawat ini, E-5 (dibaca Ye-5) terbang pertama kali pada tahun 1955 dan muncul kehadapan publik pada saat Hari penerbangan Soviet di Lapangan Udara Tushino, Moskwa pada bulan Juni 1956. Pada saat perang Vietnam, pesawat ini digunakan untuk menyerang armada pesawat Amerika Serikat, juga digunakan pada perang Arab-Israel, diantaranya Perang Enam Hari dan Perang Yom Kippur, perang India-Pakistan, krisis Yaman dan berbagai peperangan di berbagai belahan dunia ketiga, sehingga pantas dijiluki AK-47 di udara, ataupun kerikil tajam dari timur karena awalnya pihak barat khususnya Amerika Serikat menganggap remeh pesawat ini. Lebih dari 30 negara di dunia termasuk sekutu Amerika Serikat menggunakan pesawat ini. Sedikitnya terdapat 15 versi dari MiG 21 yang telah diproduksi, beberapa diproduksi di luar Uni Soviet. Kurang lebih terdapat 8000 pesawat ini telah diproduksi.

History

The MiG-21 Fishbed is a supersonic short-range strike fighter and is the first generation production aircraft of the popular MiG-21 series. The prototype, E-5 (pronounced Ye-5) first flew in 1955 and made its public appearance during the Soviet Aviation Day at Tushino Airfield, Moscow in June 1956. During the Vietnam War, it was used to attack the US fleet of aircraft, it was also used in the Arab-Israeli war, including the Six Day War and Yom Kippur War, the India-Pakistan war, the Yemen crisis and various wars in various parts of the third world, earning it the nickname AK-47 in the air, or a sharp pebble from the east because initially the west, especially the United States, underestimated this aircraft. More than 30 countries around the world including US allies use this aircraft. At least 15 versions of the MiG 21 have been produced, some outside the Soviet Union. Approximately 8000 of these aircraft have been produced.
