Durandal

75 sabremeister  2.1 years ago

Faulcon de Lacy first started making aeroplanes shortly before WWII. Their first few models were small but fast craft intended for mail deliveries. When war broke out, they decided that with minimum modifications, their planes could be adapted for military use. Their "Sword" series of aircraft was the result, and although they were never awarded production contracts with European or American militaries, they did see some success in Nationalist Chinese and Australian service. All the planes shared a common airframe, basic armament of 4x 0.50cal Browning machine guns, and a Rolls-Royce 1500hp inline piston engine. This is the Durandal model (named after the sword of Roland). It was a tank-busting ground attack aircraft with a top speed of 345mph at sea level, supplied by a 3-bladed 2.4-chord 96" propellor, and had a range of around 1300 miles. Armed with 2x 20mm wing-mounted cannons, 1x fuselage-mounted 75mm anti-tank gun, and 2x 125lb bombs in additon to the standard machine guns, it did not see much use in its' intended role (which was to originally have been the North African theatre), finding more use as an anti-artillery strike aircraft. It is presented here in a desert camouflage scheme, in which it only flew post-war as a single squadron in Russian-Mongolian service.

Just a heads-up: Having cannons of different calibers but the same name won't work unless you edit their names in the overload mod.
