Someone told me that the gnome didn't have enough guns on it...

In the late 1940s XVI was asked to build a medium range ass kicking plane, so they took the airframe of the twin engined XVI-bluebird- racer/fighter bomber, and they fitted two experimental jets on it instead of the piston engines! They also found time to stick as many guns in the front as possible! And so the deacon was born, it was soon ordered into mass production for the navy and Air Force, and did some spectacular missions! But it was outclassed in the early 50s by more powerful jets :(
