The P-700 Granit, also known by its NATO reporting name SS-N-19 "Shipwreck,"

A Soviet-era anti-ship missile designed to engage large naval vessels such as aircraft carriers. Developed in the late 1970s by the Chelomey design bureau, the missile was intended to provide the Soviet Navy with a long-range, supersonic weapon capable of piercing through modern naval defenses. With a range exceeding 600 kilometers (370 miles) and a top speed over Mach 2.5, the P-700 Granit was designed to deliver devastating firepower using either a conventional high-explosive warhead or a nuclear payload.

One of the standout features of the P-700 Granit is its advanced autonomous guidance system. After launch, the missile climbs to high altitudes before descending towards its target, utilizing an active radar seeker to identify and lock onto enemy vessels. Its robust electronic countermeasures are designed to resist jamming and increase survivability against missile defense systems. The combination of speed, range, and precision made the Granit a critical asset for the Soviet and later Russian naval forces, solidifying its reputation as a powerful weapon capable of threatening major surface ships during the Cold War and beyond.
