Sorry for the wait... The Grumman F7F was the first twin engined fighter aircraft to enter service with the United States Navy. Athough delivered to the United States Marine Corps combat unites before the end of WWII, The Tigercat did not see service in that war. Most F7Fs ended up in lane based sevice as attack aircraft or night fighters. They were withdrawn from service in 1954.
