Hrunting

Faulcon de Lacy first started making aeroplanes shortly before WWII. Their first few models were small but fast craft intended for mail deliveries. When war broke out, they decided that with minimum modifications, their planes could be adapted for military use. Their "Sword" series of aircraft was the result, and although they were never awarded production contracts with European or American militaries, they did see some success in Nationalist Chinese and Australian service. All the planes shared a common airframe, basic armament of 4x 0.50cal Browning machine guns, and a Rolls-Royce 1500hp inline piston engine. This is the Hrunting model (named after Beowulf's sword). It was a ground attack/close support aircraft with a top speed of 345mph at sea level, supplied by a 3-bladed 2.4-chord 96" propellor, and had a range of around 1300 miles. This model dispensed with the wing-mounted cannons of its' cousins and replaced them with rocket racks, in addition to 2x 125lb bombs and 1x 250lb bomb and the standard machine guns. It was capable of firing the rockets either individually or as a full salvo, and included a multi-segment counter in the cockpit to keep track of how many rockets were left. It is presented here in a forest camouflage scheme, as used by Kuomintang forces over occupied China.
