this is a Advanced transition trainer used by the army air forces in WWII. it is more advanced than the AT17, and features all metal construction and retractable tail wheel. despite this, it is much harder to fly it will drop out of the sky if you get below 90-100 mph. this was by design in order to teach students. it was considered a "hot" aircraft due to the higher than average landing speeds required. As a result none were offered to civilians after the war and only one complete aircraft exists at the airforce museum, though there are partial airframes elsewhere.
