English Electric Lightning F.3A

Classic British interceptor from the 60s. Scratch built and fairly capable. I find trying to put decals on too interfering to the surface of the aircraft and hence not put them on. Drop fuel tanks are detachable with AG1 and like earlier lightnings has no cannons.

@Tang0five Thanks. That model has been in the works in various versions for a long time.
Yeah, the F.53 (iirc) was bought by Kuwait and Saudi. It had cannons and limited ground attack ability (could carry rocket pods, I think) but it also had limited use; the climate in the mid east and the lack of trained ground crew basically made them fancy ornaments.
@GhostHTX thanks for the info. Always good to be educated! I know they made an export version that was more suited to multi-role operations, complete with (more) bells and whistles. I particularly like the look of your 50s challenge lightning. I'll take it for a spin when I'm not in work!
I like this. For 54 parts it is very very good. Just a wee point; the earlier models of the lightning (F.1, F.1a, F.2 and F.2a) had cannon. This was removed from the F.3 but reinstated in the final F.6 variant. The F.3a also had cannon, but these were originally delivered as cannonless F.3 models and subsequently upgraded to the F.6 standard.
Yeah, the Lightning is my all time favourite aeroplane.
Good job on this one!
