The McDonnell Douglas/Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft that was developed for the United States Air Force (USAF) from the 1980s to the early 1990s by McDonnell Douglas. The C-17 carries forward the name of two previous piston-engined military cargo aircraft, the Douglas C-74 Globemaster and the Douglas C-124 Globemaster II.

This Special C-17 was Built just for nasa without all the special military technology and is used as a test bed for astronamy, missle testing and much more and can be equipped with many various things under its wings. In this case those would be the extra fuel pods to extend its range to Chase missiles in the atmosphere or ones launched from ships. And the body its self has many points for attachments like above the cockpit and body.
