On the evening of15 January, 2009, four Il-76 transport aircraft belonging to the 675th Special Aviation Regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation took off from Moscow Chkalovsky Air Base. Their flight plan that day was to transport personnel and equipment to Makhachkala , and then returned to Nizhny Novgorod. That night, the first arriving IL-76 (RA-76825) taxied to the runway entrance waiting line after completing the first flight. At this time, the second arriving aircraft IL-76 (RA-76827) was preparing to land on the runway, so the air traffic controller asked RA-76827 to wait outside the runway, but RA-76825 turned off the landing lights without notifying the air traffic controller and slid forward. Waiting line, coupled with bad weather, the landing RA-76827 was not aligned with the runway, causing RA-76827's left wing to hit RA-76825 and killing RA-76825's captain, co-pilot, navigator and communications officer on the spot ( In the Il-76, the above personnel were working in the cockpit above the nose of the aircraft, which was exactly where it was hit.) The remaining two people were injured. The injured were sent to the hospital afterwards, and the remaining aircraft went to the alternate airport.
